Chris Crutchley, Principal – KZN
Chris is a CA(SA) with >15 years’ post-qualified financial, systems and commercial management experience in an internationally listed pulp and paper company, Mondi Group. He is also active within the Mtunzini community on the KZN North coast.
Chris studied at UKZN and completed his articles with Deloitte. In 2001, Chris joined Mondi Paper as a financial accountant, rapidly progressing within the finance function culminating in his role as Senior Financial Analyst for Mondi Group in London where he was integrally involved in Mondi’s demerger from Anglo American in 2007. With a strong penchant for systems, Chris administered Mondi’s global financial consolidation and IFRS reporting system until 2011.
Chris’s last role at Mondi was as commercial manager for Mondi Richards Bay, one of the Mondi’s largest operations, responsible for both finance and procurement. During this time, he led the sale of Mondi SilvaCel; developed the financial aspects to a 50MW steam turbine investment, supplying power to the national grid via Eskom’s short-term power purchase program; he also chaired the investment committee for Mondi’s enterprise development business: Mondi Zimele Jobs Fund (Pty) Ltd, wherein he developed the desire to work more in the entrepreneurial space.
Chris joined the FD Centre in 2017 and brings a wealth of knowledge of corporate best practice across financial controlling in a complex manufacturing environment, business strategy, governance, systems, supply chain, project management, SHE and industrial relations to the team.
Chris has a passion for the outdoors whether in sport, especially mountain biking, or while on vacation, making the small town of Mtunzini the idyllic home for him, his wife Heather and their 3 young boys.
