Lee Bester – Principal, Western Cape
Lee Bester has proved her skills to be both versatile and adaptable, having worked in senior management for both corporate and SME enterprises in a variety of industries including financial services (where she was promoted from Chief Financial Officer to Financial Director of a group of companies in the venture capital sector) as well as consulting independently to sectors as varied as media and advertising, hospitality, agriculture, wine, clothing and retail and manufacturing.
Lee’s experience as an independent consultant has helped her cultivate an ability to assist companies at a senior strategic management level, while also handling detail such as addressing outdated accounts, setting up new accounting systems, mentoring Bookkeepers and Finance Managers, assisting with detailed processing and statutory submissions and compiling annual financial statements. She enjoys working on these finer points of the business and prides herself on her knack for ‘digging for problems’ without losing sight of the bigger picture. This skill has been honed through her work in business rescue and investigative accounting.
Having worked as a Financial Director to various SMEs, she is sympathetic to the challenges faced by small businesses, especially as the environment becomes more volatile.
Lee has also recently been involved in ERP systems implementations at a number of clients and she has become adept at business process design and implementation, and handling HR-related change management.
A keen trail runner who enjoys the outdoors (especially time in the mountains or coast), Lee is also enthusiastic about Pilates and swimming, cooking and reading. She lives with her husband and their pet bull terrier.
