Robert Rossouw, Principal – Western Cape
Robert is an analytical, business minded professional. A self-motivated team player, he has good interpersonal skills and is as comfortable dealing with detail and complexity as he is working with the big picture.
Robert is an out of the box thinker with a wealth of senior management experience in all areas of business, from general management to sales and marketing, finance and information systems. His career also includes extensive experience across a range of sectors, including manufacturing, retail, trading and service and across multiple geographies.
His most recent post was as general manager and director of the Al Dobowi group, a Dubai-based, family-owned business with investments in manufacturing, distribution, wholesale and retail operations around the world.
In this role, Robert’s responsibilities encompassed strategic business planning, business analysis, start-ups and acquisitions, systems implementation, troubleshooting and the direct management of certain business units. These included the family’s 50% interest in a South African JV, where Robert was a director of the company, having full control over the finance function and where he managed the relationship with the JV partners. During the two years that he held this portfolio, the profitability of the company was restored and turnover more than doubled, with the working capital needs being proactively sourced via third parties.
Robert also led the Dubai groups supply chain re-engineering project as well as the implementation of the groups Middle East SAP system.
His experience has led to the development of skills that enable him to assess businesses from a holistic perspective, identifying risks and opportunities and developing appropriate business plans around these, then communicating these to the business’s senior executive and driving the implementation thereof.
Robert enjoys travelling and learning about different cultures. Music, movies or simply a good book is his way of relaxing.
