Vernon Filter, Principal – Pretoria
Vernon Filter is a hands-on financial professional, who is passionate about understanding business operations, optimising financial procedures and reporting. He boasts 35 years of experience in auditing, executive financial management (in steel manufacturing and international trading), executive financial and operational management in the micro-lending banking sector, and economic regulation in the energy sector.
Vernon completed his BCompt (Hons; cum laude) through UNISA, receiving the senate medal for best Honours student in the Department of Economic Science. At age 25, Vernon qualified as a CA. By 26, he was already appointed as audit partner.
Since this early start of being trained up to partner level at PWC, Vernon’s career trajectory has included holding internal audit and executive positions at Iscor Limited; being CFO at Macsteel International BV; and being a Financial Director at African Bank. Since then, Vernon has taken on various contract assignments. Most recently, he was a consultant with regards to financial regulation at NERSA (2008-2017).
Vernon is the proud father of three daughters, who’ve all followed his lead and work in the world of finance. In his down-time, this part-time farmer enjoys a round of golf and exploring the great outdoors. He also belongs to a male choir and is the treasurer of the Lutheran Church of SA (N-T).
